Reality Check

Last night, I attended a benefit and came away with a new outlook on my life as well as the current state of my non-profit, Sleep Tight Kids. The evening was filled with valuable information about compassion and support for women who need it. The fund-raiser was for an organization called, Renewal House. I hope to partner my non-profit with theirs to provide blankets, pj’s and other comfort items to the women and infants who reside there. As the founder’s spoke about the transformation that young women go thru as they become mothers, I remembered how my own pregnancies left me with a feeling of uncertainty and excitement at the same time. I relied heavily on my husband and family for support and don’t know how I would have done it alone. I’m honored that we were invited to attend this event, and I plan to support the Renewal House in any way I can. If you are interested in learning more, please visit: www.renewalhouseministries.org

David and Beth, founders of Renewal House, played this short clip called The Butterfly Circus, to convey points of compassion that coincide with their mission to help others. It is beautifully imagery and has a powerful message.
It runs about 20 minutes, but it is well worth it. I wanted to share this because of the way it touched my soul.

Heidi and Anthony- Engaged!

We traveled to all of the grand locations at the Biltmore Estate for Heidi and Anthony’s spring engagement session. I loved hearing all of the awesome details of their fall wedding at Diana at Biltmore. I would like to extend my gratitude to The Darling Bee for use of their antique heart chair. I’m always looking for new ways to keep my sessions fresh and edgy, so this item was a perfect fit.

After the couple left, I went back to the tulip gardens to capture some images that make me appreciate the details of spring. It inspires me to think creatively and reminds me to make time to photograph things for myself.

Welcome baby Elijah

I have been with Bethany and Mark since the beginning. I photographed their wedding in 2007, maternity session about 3 months ago, and now the arrival of their son, Elijah. I received a text from Bethany’s Mom the night he was born and the rest is history. I love the bond that I have with these clients/turned friends as the years have passed. There is nothing more important to me in my business than to capture the emotion of the people who have trusted me to do this.

Welcome Baby Ian

I met Ian’s parents at a Lake Lure wedding I photographed last August. Little did I know that they would be calling me to capture images of their new little boy and Pit Bull, Mackenzie. It’s always fun to catch the emotion on the faces of proud parents holding the most precious thing in their lives. Every time I go into a client’s home, a feeling of relief washes over me. It is this feeling that their lives will be documented, to share with many generations to come. The authentic gift of holding a family moment in time. For in this moment, this is how they held their baby and how looked at their baby.
Their dog was trying to stay in the center of my frame most of the session. I love the furry members of the family so this was no problem with me. I can’t wait to continue with a ‘year in the life’ of this little one. Stay tuned for more at the next session in 6 months.
