I just spotted my images, featured in this month’s issue of The Knot Magazine.
I was grateful for the opportunity to photograph a spectacular event that StudioWed Asheville had last year to thank local vendors for all they do. It was co-sponsored by the talented staff at The Knot Magazine. It was a great experience for the people in our industry to get together and network while giving back to the community with donations made to our local Manna Food Bank.
The article below gives all the fun details.

It’s not often that I have the opportunity to capture a bridal session with hail, rain, fog, thunder and lightning all in the same shoot. This is exactly what happened for Mary’s session and we made the elements work for us. Mary was stunning and her parents were troopers. It’s exciting to have shoots like this one, keeping my job interesting and creative. I appreciated the fact that Mary wasn’t afraid to get her feet wet, both literally and figuratively.
Many thanks to Studio Wed team that helped with the details of this session. Beth with Studio Flora Diva for the beautiful cascading bouquet that looked exactly as the original on her wedding day. E. Scott Thompson with Make-up at the Grove Arcade did a flawless job on Mary’s make-up that even held up in the rain! Suraj provided an up-do that did not disappoint.

I was thrilled to receive this note written by the bride a few months after the session…

“Jill is a gem of a person who just so happens to also be a first class photographer. We selected Jill to photograph my bridal portraits and we’re so glad we did! She shot so many amazing photographs in tons of different angles and places within our location. She knew exactly where to take me and how to have me pose to capture the perfect portrait. In fact, she captured so many amazing images, it’s difficult to choose just one as my official portrait! On the day of my shoot it was raining, lightening and even hailed severely. The ground was wet and covered in ice and light to moderate rain continuously came down on us but nothing was going to stop her from getting through the shoot. Although, I had my concerns about getting out there on a rainy day, her bright attitude and smile encouraged me to stay positive as well. Jill took the weather with stride and used it to her advantage as she caught tons of photos with fog and neat lighting effects. I was ecstatic to be working with such a fun person and with someone who took charge of the shoot. Beisdes getting my hair, makeup and dress on, I did not have to stress over any other details of the portrait session. She not only took some of the best bridal photographs I’ve ever seen, she got the images uploaded to our online viewing gallery very quickly. Jill has also been extremely helpful after the session. She answers all of my questions and responds to calls, emails and texts expediently. It really feels as if she genuinely cares about my portraits a great deal and seems to go above and beyond to accomodate my requests. I absolutely can not wait to work with her again and I’ll try to come up with any excuse to do so :) ! I highly recommend Jill of Realities Photography! Thank you Jill for creating the bridal portraits of my dreams! ”

It doesn’t get much more romantic than this. From the horse-drawn carriage to the perfect sunset at the Biltmore, this day was nothing less than amazing. As always, I loved working with Melissa from Asheville Event Company, following all of the gorgeous details of their wedding day. This was the kind of day that you replay the images in your head for weeks afterwards. I’m so thankful to have had the opportunity to work with this fun couple, and their sweet family/friends. I look forward to sharing the moving version of our art later in the week with the Realities Montage. Stay tuned.

The countdown is on! Valerie and Brett will be married in just two days at the lovely Biltmore Estate. It was great to spend some time with them this morning at our e-session, to capture some fun moments before they tie the knot.

Many thanks to The Darling Bee for use of their ‘LOVE’ banner. It was the perfect item for some additional flare:)
Looking forward to a fun weekend working with Ian, associate for Realities as well as Melissa from Asheville Event Company.
Stay tuned for their Rehearsal sneak peek as well as wedding day coverage to come soon!
